Teacher Appreciation Week Brings Freebies, Discounts for Educators

If you are a teacher or know one, here are the places offering discounts for Teacher Appreciation Week from May 6 to 10.

Businesses both locally and nationally are gearing up to take some time to appreciate the hard work and dedication that educators provide during National Teacher Appreciation Week from May 6 to 10. National Teacher Appreciation Day is May 7.

Here are some special deals and discounts for teachers:

Grab a refreshing tea for free from McAlister’s Deli from May 6 to 12. Whether you prefer sweet, unsweet, a mix of both, or even half lemonade, half tea, all are included in this teacher appreciation week deal. Extra flavor shots are not included. You must present a valid educator ID to get the deal. Multiple locations

Craving wings? Buffalo Wild Wings is 20 percent off an order for any teachers. This can be used for both dine-in and to-go orders. A valid school ID must be provided to receive the discount.

From May 5 through May 11, teachers can score some free classroom swag. Each teacher supply kit is set to include two Expo dry-erase markers, one Sharpie permanent marker, two Sharpie highlighters, two Paper Mate ballpoint pens, eight Paper Mate woodcase pencils, two Paper Mate erasers, one Elmer’s glue stick, and one Elmer’s liquid school glue. Note that there is a limited number of kits per store and the kits may not be available at all Staples locations. Staples also will give 20 percent off purchases during the week for teachers with a valid ID at checkout.

Sonic Drive-In will release rewards to any teachers enrolled in its Teachers’ Circle Rewards Program during Teacher Appreciation Week. You must be enrolled in the program before Monday, May 6 to be eligible for any rewards. You’ll be able to redeem the rewards for many things including cheeseburgers, Sonic Blasts, and large drinks.

Catering deals for teaching staff will be available next week at any NoVA-area Potbelly’s location. Choose from either 10 percent off an order of $200 or more or free delivery. Schools or anyone interested in taking advantage of this deal can contact catering manager Cecilia Tippett at 703-232-0930.

While Costco does not provide a discounted rate for teacher memberships, it does have a special offer for teachers who join as a new member. Teachers who sign up for memberships will receive special Costco shopping cards. The card is valued between $20 to $40 depending on which membership tier you opt into.

Teachers can receive an additional 15 percent off purchases (including sale items) at Michaels by providing a valid school-issued ID. And it gets better. You can sync this to your Michaels Rewards account so that the discount will be automatically applied for future purchases.

Get 15 Percent Off at Joann

The fabric and craft supply store offers 15 percent off purchases for teachers through its Joann Teacher Rewards Digital Discount card. The discounts are good for both in-store and online.

Take 30 Percent Off Your Samsung Purchases

Educators looking to upgrade their laptops, watches, or TVs can take advantage of Samsung’s deals for teachers by signing up for their Education Offers Program. Simply sign up with your .edu email address or complete ID.me at checkout.

Crocs offers teachers an online-only discount of 20 percent off all full-price styles with a valid ID. There are exclusions. ID.me will verify your eligibility each time you shop.
