What Businesses Are Closed Monday For Veterans Day

While Veterans Day is officially Sunday, it’s observed Monday, November 12. That means that, depending on your employer, you might have the day off work to celebrate. A good number of businesses, especially federally run ones, will also be closed for the day.



Here’s a quick rundown of some of the bigger spots that will be closed. Additionally, for things like restaurants and the like you may want to call ahead Monday to make sure they’re open before heading out. And if you are a veteran, a number of restaurants are offering free meals for veterans on Monday.



Since Monday is a federal holiday all banks will be closed. Banks that have Sunday hours will most likely be open on Sunday, actual Veteran’s Day, but be closed on Monday morning.

USPS will not be delivering mail on Monday because it’s a federally-run entity. FedEx and UPS are independent businesses and will both be up and running Monday. That means you’ll be able to ship packages as normal using both services and trucks will be running to deliver packages.

National Parks are open on Veterans Day, and are offering free admission for the day. The day is one of just four days each year that the parks offer free admission. The other days are January 15th to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday, April 21st for the first day of National Park Week, and September 22 for National Public Lands Day.

Public libraries are all likely open on Sunday but will be closed Monday in celebration of the holiday.

Both state and federal courts will be closed on Monday.

The vast majority of public schools are closed on Monday for Veterans Day; however, schools have the choice to stay open so you should check with your local school district before keeping the kids at home.
