NEW YORK — Thousands of fans are expected to watch the 2024 WNBA Draft on Monday, ready to see Iowa superstar Caitlin Clark, the projected No. 1 pick, officially begin her professional career.

Beyond Clark, there are plenty of other players to watch from the class of 2024 — including a couple other Hawkeyes who might have a WNBA career on the horizon.

Sixth-year Iowa guard Kate Martin is not a projected WNBA Lottery pick, but that doesn't mean she won't be selected later in the evening.

If selected, the 6-foot Edwardsville, Ill. native would likely be a second or third-round pick. Beyond Women's Sports projects Martin will be the 27th overall pick, joining Clark on the Indiana Fever.

Dubbed "The Glue" by Coach Lisa Bluder, Martin served as captain of the Iowa women's basketball team for four seasons. In her most recent season, Martin became the first Iowa women's player to amass 900+ points, 400+ assists, 120+ steals and 60+ blocks in a career.

Martin recorded 16 points and five rebounds in her final Iowa basketball game against South Carolina. Throughout her collegiate career, Martin averaged eight points and 4.6 rebounds per game.

If Martin isn't drafted by the WNBA, there's potential for her to play overseas or start coaching.

In fact, Martin already has some coaching-related accolades under her belt: In February, Martin was named to the 21st class of the "So You Want To Be A Coach" program by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association.

And though Gabbie Marshall is also eligible for the draft due to her using all of her NCAA eligibility, she is reportedly continuing her education with a masters program in occupational therapy.

Marshall, a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, is a 5'9" guard who shot 35.7% from 3-point range in the 2023-24 season. She averaged 6.1 points per game.
