AUBURN, Calif. (KTXL) — The Bridge Fire, burning in Auburn, forced evacuations over the weekend after it sparked Sunday beneath the Foresthill Bridge, spreading across Foresthill Road.

As of Monday morning, the Bridge Fire is 300 acres and 5% contained.

Cal Fire Nevada-Yuba-Placer Unit Chief and Placer County Fire Chief Brian Estes said crews were “successful” in their operations Sunday night and into early Monday morning.

“So we’ve got really good, strong lines on the east and southeast side, which were our priorities, specifically with the protection of the community of Foresthill and the fire moving to the east,” Estes explained.

The Lake Clementine area remains under an evacuation order, according to Placer County officials. Clipper Gap and Applegate are under evacuation warnings.

Cal Fire reports one firefighter was injured but no additional information was provided.

Crews will be watching for spot fires Monday and are keeping their focus on the American River Canyon area, Cal Fire reported. Fire officials also said they’ll be working to remove fuel that still exists between the flames and the line that’s been established.
