BIRMINGHAM — Brandon Miller and Alabama basketball are looking to score a victory in the first round of the NCAA Tournament against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Thursday at Legacy Arena.

The Crimson Tide holds the No. 1 overall seed in the tournament. It's also the first time in program history Alabama has held a No. 1 seed.

With a win, Alabama would face the winner of the game between No. 8 seed Maryland and No. 9 seed West Virginia. The winner of that game Saturday will advance to the Sweet 16 in Louisville next week.

The Islanders (24-10) earned the opportunity to play Alabama (29-5) after a play-in game on Tuesday in which the Islanders beat Southeast Missouri in Dayton. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi will be without Terrion Murdix, the Southland Conference defensive player of the year who sustained an injury in the conference tournament.
