An early look at the Patriots' options to potentially replace Josh McDaniels
As of Friday afternoon, Josh McDaniels is still the offensive coordinator of the New England Patriots. However, that could change in the near future.
Thursday night, it was reported by multiple sources that the Raiders have officially requested to interview McDaniels for their open head coaching job. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport added that McDaniels could be viewed as a “top candidate” for the job. According to Rapoport, McDaniels will have dinner with the team’s executives Friday night, then officially interview on Saturday.
McDaniels has been the Patriots’ offensive coordinator for the last 10 and 14 of the last 17 seasons. Replacing him will be no small task. Who might the Patriots look to to lead the rebuilt offense and rookie quarterback Mac Jones into its second season if McDaniels is no longer in the building?
