Arizona Cardinals newest hashtag is cringe worthy

When the 2022 NFL Draft came around, there was something off about it for the Arizona Cardinals.

No, I’m not talking about trading for Marquise “Hollywood” Brown and then using the second-round pick on Colorado State’s Trey McBride. Instead, I’m referring to the Cardinals’ hashtag on Twitter suddenly switching from “#BeRedSeeRed” or “#RiseUpRedSea” to something else.

Excuse me, but; who, what, why, when, where, and how was this change approved? I’m all for something new, but to say that Arizona is a “bird city” fails on two fronts. First, Arizona is a state and not a city (unless they’re referencing Chicago’s Arizona neighborhood on the extreme far southeast side of the city).

Secondly, the population of birds in Arizona itself has declined 20 to 30 percent since the 1970s, according to Sciencemag.org. Not only that but it was instantly roasted by Cardinals fans on Twitter and Facebook alike.

Arizona Cardinals need to go back to the old set of way better hashtags.

I’m still not used to it, and much like the user above who will never get used to it, neither will I. This is just another misstep by the Arizona Cardinals social media department. Posting elaborate winning photoshops from Weeks 1-7 last year sure brought teams a lot of indirect bulletin board material.

Then once the losing began in the second half of the season, the Cardinals saw the return fire of everything that they’d been doing. Heck, they even got destroyed by the Chargers’ anime schedule announcement.

Unlike the team’s product on the field, the hashtags and sayings weren’t broken- so why did it have to get fixed? It may win over us in time, but that will take a bit of success for me to buy into it.
