For years, Pat Riley, while coaching, had said you wait your turn until football is over and then claim your stake in the spotlight. I’m not sure anyone expected football to be over in South Florida before the Heat play their first regular-season game. Then again, the Heat have their own amends to make after being swept out of the first round of last season’s playoffs.
