The XV0 is a 165Hz FHD monitor (1920x1080) with an IPS panel that boasts HDR 10 and FreeSync support and 250 nits of brightness. Acer also touts a1ms VRB (Virtual Response Boost) response time and a DisplayPort 1.2 and HDMI 2.0 input. The monitor also has a built-in 2-Watt speaker and features Acer's Blue Light Filter tech. Given its price point, you should keep your expectations in check for the XV0, but the price point is hard to ignore if you're looking for a budget gaming monitor.

This is such an impressive deal because the S2722DGM is a 2K (2560 x 1440) monitor with a 165 Hz refresh rate, something you never see for under $200 and certainly not from a monitor we gave 4 stars! When we reviewed the Dell S2722DGM in February, we praised the monitor for its strong color saturation and excellent contrast, along with its great build quality. On our light meter the S2722DGM returned a strong 350 nits of brightness. Its contrast ratio was a strong 2536:1. That's at least, in part, thanks to its VA panel. IPS panels tend to top out at 1000:1. According to our colorimeter, the Dell S2722DGM can reproduced up to 111.8 percent of the sRGB color gamut and a slightly less impressive 75 percent of DCI-P3. If you can spend more and want a larger screen, better color and contrast, consider the Dell S3222DGM, the S2722DGM's big sibling, which is 32 inches with the same 2K resolution and 165 Hz refresh rate. We loved this 360 Hz monitor for its unbeatable speed, accurate color and good contrast last year when it was more than $100. A couple years ago when 360 Hz displays first started arriving on the market, they were all around $700. With , we've seen prices fall. But we didn't expect them to fall this much. When we reviewed MSI's Oculux NXG253R back in 2021, we gave it an Editor's Choice award for its Good contrast thanks to a variable backlight, and its tested input lag was 17ms, faster than competitors, making it the fastest monitor we'd tested. We reviewed the CHG90 and found it to render DCI-P3 color accurately, and had excellent response with low input lag. The CHG90 retails for $999.99, but it currently on sale for $499.99 at Microsoft (opens in new tab), representing a 30 percent price cut. The 49-inch monitor features what’s called a Dual HD resolution, or 3840 x 1080 with a 1ms response time 144 Hz refresh rate (AMD FreeSync supported) courtesy of a QLED panel. If contrast is what you’re after, the CHG90 promises 3,000:1 performance but actually we found it did better, returning 3,735:1 on our tests. Typical brightness is rated for 350 nits, while peak HDR brightness tops out at 600 nits. In our tests, we found that regular brightness hit 338.4 nits on our light meter while HDR hit a strong 589 nits. The monitor also delivered 89 percent of the DCI-P3 gamut and 99.9 percent of the sRGB color gamut. Those are solid numbers and in line with competitors that have much smaller panels.

Fortunately, this Black Friday, you don't have to spend even $200 to get a monitor that operates at up to 240 Hz. So, if you're playing a title like Call of Duty or League of Legends and want faster response rates so you can hit moving targets, you can grab Acer's Nitro ED270 XBmiipx 27-inch, 240 Hz display for just $189 at Newegg (opens in new tab). The 1080p, curved monitor also features a 1ms VRB (visual response boost) feature that turns off the backlight or adds a blank image between frames when colors change so fast that you'd notice blur. The monitor also promises 250 nits of brightness, narrow bezels and a 1500R curve.

This 32-inch, curved 2560 x 1440 display delivers incredible contrast, vibrant colors and smooth 165 Hz game play at what's always an affordable price. That's why we've rated the S3222DGM the best gaming monitor overall and why we've written about discounts on it a few times. One of the company’s more popular models, the LG 32GP850 32 UltraGear, is available today at a steep discount. Amazon is selling the monitor for $396.99 versus its MSRP of $599.99. As its name implies, the 32GP850 is a 32-inch monitor, and it features a QHD (2560 x 1440) resolution with a 1ms response time and 165 Hz refresh rate. The panel supports both AMD FreeSync Premium and Nvidia G-Sync, while it can hit 98 percent of the DCI-P3 color space. Finally, LG rates the 32GP850 for typical brightness of 350 nits, while its typical contrast ratio comes in at 1,000:1.

There are no built-in speakers; however, we won't complain at this price point.
