Like it or not, the snow is coming as a monster winter storm pushes its way up the Atlantic coast Friday night and explodes into a “bomb cyclone” — with the potential to dump as much as 12 to 18 inches of snow, and maybe more, on the Jersey Shore.

Forecasters say the storm will also be packing powerful winds that could gust as high as 40 to 50 mph, creating blizzard conditions that will make it extremely dangerous for drivers and could trigger power outages.

As of Friday afternoon, several counties in New Jersey are under a blizzard warning — for the first time since early January 2018. Most are under a winter storm warning, and two are under a less urgent winter weather advisory.

Here’s a rundown of the weather alerts in each county and what kind of weather conditions are expected by the National Weather Service.
