Comedian Dave Chappelle tested positive for Covid-19 on Thursday night just before he was scheduled to perform in Austin, Texas, the Associated Press reported, adding that the comedian has been forced to cancel several upcoming shows as he recovers in quarantine.

Chappelle is currently asymptomatic and quarantining, a spokesperson for the comedian told AP. The website of Stubb’s Waller Creek Amphitheater in Austin, where Chappelle was scheduled to perform, mentions that four of the comedian’s upcoming shows between Friday and Tuesday have been canceled. Comedian and podcast host Joe Rogan, who was scheduled to join Chappelle on stage on Friday and Saturday, apologized to fans for the cancellations on an Instagram post adding: “We’ll reschedule them as soon as we can.”

Chappelle has been hosting several socially distanced live shows since last June. The comedian decided to move his shows to Austin during the winter, his spokesperson told AP. She added that all attending audience members, Chappelle, and his entire team had to undergo a rapid Covid-19 test before the shows. Earlier this week, Rogan had posted a photo of Chappelle in Austin hanging out with himself, Tesla CEO Elon Musk, comedians Michelle Wolf, Donnell Rawlings, Ron White and others.
