UPDATE: This was a bit of a false alarm, as Cook came back out onto the field with the Vikings’ offense on the next possession without incident. Original story follows.

After a sub-par Week 1, Minnesota Vikings’ running back Dalvin Cook had gotten off to a blistering start in Minnesota’s Week 2 game against the Arizona Cardinals. Unfortunately, it appears that the injury bug may have bitten him again.

Cook took a handoff on 3rd-and-1 just after the two-minute warning and was stopped short, going down on the play and was slow to get up. He walked off under his own power and went to the blue medical tent on the sideline.

Cook started this game with 11 carries for 86 yards, eclipsing the 61 yards he ran for against Cincinnati. He also has a pair of receptions for 17 yards.

The team did take Cook’s helmet away when he got to the sideline, so there’s a chance that he’s going into the concussion protocol.

Once we have more updates on the status of Dalvin Cook, we will have an update to this post for you. For now, it’s time to keep our fingers crossed.
