Former WWE wrestler Marty Jannetty appears to claim he killed man as a teen

Marty Jannetty made what seemed like a startling confession early Wednesday morning.

After a man allegedly attempted to sexually assault him when he was 13, the veteran professional wrestler says he fought back.

“That was the very first time I made a man disappear,” Jannetty, 60, wrote in a since-deleted Facebook post.

On social media, wrestling fans shared screenshots of the post, in which the former WWE star appears to say that he killed the man.

Jannetty was interviewed in the 2012 Star-Ledger documentary “The Bottom Rope: Inside the World of Independent Wrestling.” He talked about making the transition from wrestling at Madison Square Garden in the ’80s to making appearances at small shows in the independent wrestling circuit later in his career. At the time of the filming, he was living in Lakehurst. His Facebook profile says he currently lives in Las Vegas, though a Twitter account for Jannetty says he calls Toms River home.

The wrestler, who grew up in Columbus, Georgia, has worked as a pro wrestler in the World Wrestling Federation — later known as WWE — along with the American Wrestling Association and Extreme Championship Wrestling. Jannetty and retired WWE star Shawn Michaels were formerly known as The Rockers. After they parted ways in the early ‘90s, Jannetty became WWF intercontinental champion and WWF world tag team champion.

Jannetty said he was buying marijuana from a man in Georgia when he was 13 when the man allegedly attacked him.

“I never told no one this, even my brother Geno,” Jannetty said at the start of his Facebook post. “Cause Geno would’ve killed him, and I didn’t want my brother gone, hell he’d only recently come home from (Vietnam).”

“I was 13,” he continued. “Working at Victory Lanes Bowling Alley buying weed from a (anti-gay slur) that worked there and he put his hands on me. He dragged me around to the back of the building. You already know what he was gonna try to do.

“That was the first time I made a man disappear ... they never found him,” Jannetty said. “They shoulda looked in the (Chattahoochee) River.”

Jannetty then started talking about a woman in a photo he posted (allegedly someone he had a relationship with) before returning to the incident.

“I promised myself way back then, nobody would ever hurt me again ... that includes you,” he said, using derogatory language that referred to the nationality of the woman.

The Chattahoochee River runs through Columbus, Georgia. After Jannetty posted the Facebook message, Columbus Police reportedly told TMZ they would investigate Jannetty’s claim.

“The first step will be seeing if we have any missing persons or unidentified remains cases that match the limited information in the post,” a police spokesperson told TMZ.
