LAS VEGAS —The Miami Dolphins face the Las Vegas Raiders today at Allegiant Stadium looking to rebound after a blowout loss last week.

The Dolphins are 1-1 and lost starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa to a rib injury in a 35-0 loss to the Buffalo Bills. Jacoby Brissett will start in Week 3 for Miami.

The Raiders are 2-0 after wins against the Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers, and QB Derek Carr has been a key reason why. Tight end Darren Waller and deep threat Henry Ruggs provide a potent offense against the Dolphins' dynamic defense.

The Raiders are seeking to start 3-0 for the first time since the 2002 season - the last time they advanced to the Super Bowl.

Derek Carr dropped in a dime to Bryan Edwards on a 34-yard pass over the middle, followed by Peyton Barber breaking loose on a 27-yard scamper down to the Dolphins' 19-yard line. Brandon Jones was hurt on the play.

Barber pounded the middle of the defense to get over 100 yards on the day and move the ball to the Dolphins' 6. After a Carr kneeldown, Daniel Carlson came out for the game-winning field goal. The Dolphins jumped offside, and Carlson hit the 22-yarder for the win.

Raiders win 31-28, putting the Dolphins at 1-2 on the season. The Raiders start 3-0.

Maxx Crosby nearly ended the game with a big hit on Jacoby Brissett, but the loose ball was ruled an incomplete pass. Brissett nearly had DeVante Parker deep, but it was broken up. On fourth-and-20, Brissett shook off the rush and found Mike Gesicki for 27 yards and a first down.

Brissett took a deep shot to Will Fuller, and the receiver was injured on the diving attempt to haul it in. Jason Sanders was able to drill a 50-yard field goal to tie the score at 28-28 and extend overtime.

Derek Carr drove the Raiders down to the 20-yard line, but the Dolphins defense held strong there. The Dolphins get one possession to extend the game or win it.

7:15 p.m. | Dolphins tie game 25-25 with 2 seconds left on Jacoby Brissett TD run and 2-point conversion on Brissett to Will Fuller pass. OT

We're going to play overtime people.

Plenty of time in the fourth quarter for Miami to score, make 2-point conversion and send the game into overtime. Sure.

6:32 p.m. | Raiders pad lead over Dolphins with TD from Peyton Barber

But it's only 25-14 as they miss the extra point.

6:03 p.m. | Raiders take lead over Dolphins 19-14 on Derek Carr TD pass to Hunter Renfrow.

Third quarter halfway over but the momentum definitely has swung in Las Vegas' favor Dolphins have not been the same since the safety - still an awful call from your own end zone.

5:34 p.m. | Jason Sanders' 48-yard field goal dinks off right goal post and failed 3-pointer leaves Dolphins with 14-12 lead at halftime over Raiders

Miami quarterback Jacoby Brissett worked the ball into field-goal range and stopped clock with seconds left.

5:20 p.m. | Derek Carr's short TD pass to Alec Ingold cuts Dolphins lead to 14-12 and the Raiders have rallied to make this a game

Dolphins hurting themselves with personal foul penalties on defense.

Dolphins defense still playing well but the Raiders are starting to wake up.

4:47 p.m. | Raiders get on board with safety on Jacoby Brissett pass to Jaylen Waddle in Dolphins end zone and it's a 14-2 game.

Not sure if either of the Dolphins' co-offensive coordinators take credit for that ridiculous call that had Dolphins passing out of the end zone and to a receiver in the end zone who was tackled immediately. First quarter just ended.

Malcolm Brown goes 24 yards to put Miami up by two touchdowns - and you really have to wonder what Jon Gruden was thinking going for it deep in his territory on the Raiders' last series.

4:28 p.m. | Jon Gruden makes boneheaded call and Raiders' 4th-and-1 run comes up short

Raiders' failure to convert on fourth-down gamble puts Miami on Las Vegas' .34.

Linebacker Elandon Roberts goes 82 yards with an interception of Derek Carr to score and put the Dolphins up 7-0 in the first quarter. Don't think Carr - the NFL's leading passer - ever saw him.

Jaelen Phillips was the first pass rusher taken in the 2021 NFL Draft. Now at outside linebacker, the No. 18 overall pick says of his first two weeks in the NFL: "Every day is humbling.”

The odds certainly seem stacked against the Dolphins today in Vegas. Who Palm Beach Post reporters Joe Schad and Hal Habib picked to come out on top?

2:50 p.m. | Austin Jackson and the rest of the Dolphins offensive line are on the hot seat

The much-maligned offensive line will need to step up today to give Jacoby Brissett time to make plays.

But O-line coach Lem Jeanpierre is confident "the sky is not falling," even if fans on social media aren't convinced.

2:30 p.m. | Inactives list: Albert Wilson out for Dolphins, Josh Jacobs out for Raiders

Receiver Albert Wilson, one of the standout performers for the Dolphins during training camp, is one of Miami's five inactives for today's game against the Raiders.

Wilson was not listed on the team's injury report this week.

Wilson has four receptions for 20 yards this season, with a long gain of only 6 yards.

Receiver Preston Williams also is inactive. He has a foot injury.

They are clearing the way for Will Fuller to make his Dolphins debut today.

The Dolphins have five tight ends in uniform: Mike Gesicki, Adam Shaheen, Durham Smythe, Cethan Carter and rookie Hunter Long.

The list of inactives means that second-year cornerback Noah Igbinoghene is active for the first time this season. The former first-round draft pick was a healthy scratch for the first two games this season.

Also inactive are cornerback Trill Williams, defensive back Elijah Campbell and offensive tackle Greg Little.

2:20 p.m. | Jacoby Brissett goes from Dwyer High to Dolphins starting QB

"I don't see myself as a backup quarterback," South Florida native Jacoby Brissett said last week after stepping in for an injured Tua Tagovailoa. Now that Tua is out for at least a few weeks, the Dolphins need him to back up that confidence.

2 p.m. | Tua Tagovailoa placed on IR, will miss at least three games

The Dolphins' starting QB was hit hard early last week against the Buffalo Bills. The broken ribs he suffered will put him out for at least three weeks.
