Have a happy Easter!
It has been a couple very busy weeks with the Spring-Easter Celebrations at Parkersburg High School and Parkersburg South High School – the first day of spring with it being more like the first day of winter due to the cold and rainy weather.
I think the majority of us are ready to put our winter coats in the closet and pull out our light spring jackets.
First of all I want to thank all the participants that braved the cold weather the day of the Easter Parade making it another major success again this year.
A special thanks also to all the many, many people and children that endured the cold weather and lined the streets from 13th Street all the way down to the City Building.
Naturally the following day (Sunday) the weather was a big improvement over Saturday with it being warm and sunny but I still got my wish for no rain on the parade day.
Every year on Good Friday I always go to St. Francis Xavier Church to take part in the “stations of the cross” helping to carry the cross through town to the various different churches. It is a wonderful event to help us all get ready for Easter Sunday and if you have never taken part you might consider doing so next year.
Sunday all the different churches will be well attended with people celebrating the resurrection of Jesus and then families getting together to eat a big Easter dinner and celebrate a very special day.
I love having our entire family of 16 for these special days and events and we are very fortunate to have all our family here in the area where it is easy to get together realizing that many have children that must travel a great distance.
School children had a nice spring break week and many went to visit family and friends and take advantage of the extended week off school.
It is very important that we teach our children to always keep and abide by their faith and family values, sharing love and the word of God with others.
Wishing all of you a Happy, Blessed and most important a healthy Easter with a day full of joy and happiness.
