Jennifer Aniston and Other ‘Friends’ Actors Reminisce After Matthew Perry’s Death

Cast members of “Friends,” who shared coffee and apartments in their roles on the long-running series, reminisced in Instagram posts this week about the scenes they shared with Matthew Perry, who played Chandler Bing on the show.
Perry was found unresponsive in a hot tub at his home in Los Angeles on Oct. 28. He was 54. His cause of death has not been released. Days after his death, Courteney Cox, Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer released a brief joint statement about their grief over the loss of their friend, but said they needed to process the loss before saying anything more.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, the actors shared their favorite moments on Instagram, touching on the warmth and chemistry that made the show an enduring global hit. Just like in their hundreds of scripted scenes, their memories were interspersed with love, tears, references to Chandler’s signature catchphrase, and captured how the six of them formed a chosen family on the show, which ran from 1994 to 2004.
LeBlanc had the role of Joey Tribbiani, Chandler’s roommate. On Instagram, LeBlanc posted a screen grab from an episode in 1996 in which Joey and Chandler, armed with a pan and a detergent bottle for protection, inched toward their apartment door before opening it to a fan, portrayed by Brooke Shields, who was obsessed with the character that Joey was playing on a soap opera.
