South Carolina receiver Josh Vann didn't secure the ball away as he almost crossed the goal line on that pass from Zeb Noland. ECU stripped the ball out inches before Vann got across and the ball rolled out of the back of the end zone for an ECU touchback;
East Carolina place kicker Owen Daffer misses a 44-yard field goal try to the right. Pirates had a chance to go up two scores. ECU still leads 7-0.
Zeb Noland throws his first interception on the season
Miscommunication between Noland and tight end Jaheim Bell resulted in the quarterback's first interception on the season. Saba for ECU stepped in front of the pass.
The speculation is over. For now. Noland, who started USC's season opener last week got his second straight start at quarterback for the Gamecocks.
He completed his first pass, a throw to Dakereon Joyner for 8 yards.
So now we know why East Carolina decided to receive when they won the toss. They had the perfect play dialed up. ECU QB Holton Ahlers rolled then found Tyler Snead behind the defense for a 75-yard touchdown pass.

Freshman Luke Doty, who sprained his left foot before the team's first fall camp scrimmage nearly a month ago, is expected to play, according to South Carolina football coach Shane Beamer. But he was mum on the extent of the health of Doty, which guy would start the ECU game or how much each is expected to play for the Gamecocks (1-0).
The Pirates (0-1) dropped their season opener versus Appalachian State, 33-19, last Thursday in the neutral site game at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.
