Model Nanga Awasum Says Gigi Hadid Completely Changed Her Life Overnight

Imagine going for a stroll down the street not knowing that Gigi Hadid is about to change your life.

That’s exactly what happened for 23-year-old model Nanga Awasum, who was spotted by Gigi while out and about in New York City earlier this week. In turn, Gigi snapped a photo of the back of Nanga’s outfit and shared it to her Instagram Story, writing, “Shoutout to my NYC inspiration of the day: this queen,” and describing her as “major.”

After noticing Gigi’s post, Nanga shared a mirror selfie of her entire outfit, expressing that she wishes she had turned around. “It's the way @GiGiHadid would have changed my entire life if I was only facing the right way,” the 23-year-old lamented on Twitter.

From there, things only got better. Gigi responded with another sweet message, writing, “You were facing the right way exactly where you were headed. Sunshine! Sending biiiiig love Nanga!”

Unsurprisingly, the exchange soon got a lot of attention, leading Nanga to conclude that her life has, in fact, been changed overnight. “This outfit doesn’t even know its impact. Gigi doesn’t even know her impact,” she added on Instagram.

In an interview with E! News, Nanga revealed that her now-infamous outfit was a last-minute choice. “I woke up that morning and I threw on this outfit and I really, really didn't like the outfit at all, but I had 30 minutes to get to work and I had to get on set,” she explained, adding that she actually stopped at Zara to buy a new outfit when she was stopped by two girls who told her she was on Gigi’s Story. “I'm blank staring at them because the words just aren't processing.”

Nanga also shared that since Gigi’s post, she’s booked several modeling gigs — and has received interest from multiple agencies. “I've been told I was ugly, I've been turned down by so many agencies, I've been turned down by so many jobs and just to have someone like her see me and tell me that I was pretty and tell me I was major, it changed the trajectory of my month,” she told E! News. “After this, anything can happen.”
