NFL World Reacts To The Super Bowl Petition News

Should the Super Bowl be played on Sunday night or Saturday night?

For years, many fans across the National Football League have pleaded for the league’s biggest game of the year to be moved to Saturday night, allowing for a day of rest before returning to work on Monday morning.

However, the league has not obliged to this request, keeping the game on Sunday night (a better night for TV ratings, in all honesty).

One fan is taking things to the extreme. A teen in Florida has started a petition asking for the Super Bowl to move to Saturday night.

According to CBS Sports, the petition has more than 80,000 signatures.

“It’s really, really important to me because 17.2 million people miss work,” high school student Frank Ruggeri said during a TV appearance. “That’s 44 billion dollars less of productivity.”

Ruggeri argued that the television audience could be even bigger on Saturday night, though he didn’t provide any evidence to back up that claim.

“Commissioner Goodell, there would be more viewership. The people will be watching. Bigger party. And I think the economic impact would be easier to have it on a Saturday.”

The better option might be to make the Monday following the Super Bowl a national holiday…

NFL fans have another petition in mind, too – they want the Super Bowl to be played in cold weather outdoors.

That request seems unlikely to be granted, though.

The NFL’s postseason will continue on Sunday, with the Bucs playing the Rams and the Bills playing the Chiefs.
