No. 4 Oregon Ducks football downs Stony Brook 48-7

Oregon gets another TD with 2:42 remaining when Trey Benson gets his first career TD with a 3-yard run to cap a 10-play, 65-yard drive led by third-string QB Jay Butterfield. Oregon downs Stony Brook 48-7 to move to 3-0 on the season.

A memorable first TD for Oregon freshman Dont'e Thornton, who catches a pass from Ty Thompson and makes a couple of nifty moves to go 54 yards and a 41-7 lead over Stony Brook with 8:26 remaining. The one-play drive was set up when Oregon forced a Seawolves' incompletion on fourth-and-6 from the Oregon 46-yard line.

Camden Lewis hits a 35-yard field goal with 13:08 remaining to increase the Oregonlead to 34-7 over Stone Brook. The drive bogged down when Ty Thompson was sacked on a third-and-5 from the 12-yard line after a 10-yard Mycah Pittman punt return set the Ducks up at the 32-yard line to begin the possession.

Travis Dye runs 3 yards for the TD for Oregon after the Bennett Williams intercepts a Stony Brook pass and returns it to the 11-yard line. The Ducks increase their lead over to 31-7 with 1:38 remaining in the third quarter. Dye has 87 rushing yards on 15 carries.

Ty Thompson's first career TD pass is a 1-yarder to Terrance Ferguson, who catches his first career TD with 7:45 remaining in the first quarter as Oregon increases its lead over Stony Brook to 24-7. The drive was 48 yards in 10 plays for the Ducks and highlighted by 24- and 12-yard runs from Travis Dye.

Thompson has gone the whole way at quarterback for the Ducks in the second half in place of Anthony Brown, who walked back to the locker room slowly at halftime after taking big hits on two sacks to end the first half.

Oregon has 83 rushing yards at halftime to 82 for Stony Brook. The Ducks are also 0-for-3 on third-down conversions while Stony Brook is 3-of-9 and 1-for-1 on fourth downn. Anthony Brown is 14-of-18 passing for 159 yards.

Anthony Brown runs 7 yards to give Oregon football the TD and a 17-7 lead over Stony Brook with 12:03 left in the first half to cap a 73-yard drive. Two plays before the touchdowns, Brown had a 30-yard completion to Mycah Pittman and also had nice completions on the drive to Terrance Ferguson and Johnny Johnson III.

Among the defensive players who didn't play in the first quarter for Oregon were Mase Funa, Keith Brown, Kayvon Thibodeaux, Bradyn Swinson and Adrian Jackson. That doesn't include Justin Flowe, who is out for the season, and Dru Mathis, who is out indefinitely.

Stony Brook goes 75 yards to pull within 10-7 of Oregon on the final play of the first quarter on a 5-yard TD run from Ty Son Lawton.

Oregon goes 86 yards, mostly highlighted by CJ Verdell runs, and Verdell goes around the right end for a 9-yard touchdown pass from Anthony Brown and a 10-0 lead over Stony Brook with 5:18 left in the first quarter. The nine-play drive also included nice completions from Brown to Johnny Johnson III and Troy Franklin.

Oregon gets the ball at the Stony Brook 46-yard line after a Vernone McKInley III interception on the game's third offensive play. The Ducks drive to the 23-yard line and and settle for a 40-yard Camden Lewis field goal with 12:23 left in the first quarter for a 3-0 lead over Stony Brook.

WHAT FANS HAVE TO DO: A mask mandate is in place for all University of Oregon athletic events for those over the age of 5. Fans must present a vaccination card or proof of a negative COVID-19 test within three days of the games and a photo ID to be allowed into the stadium.

SHUTTLES TO THE GAME: Pregame shuttles to the stadium also will be cashless, with mobile passes available for purchase in advance. First Student has replaced LTD as operator of the gameday shuttles from three locations: Valley River Center, Lane Events Center and Pacific Source. Shuttles begin running three hours before kickoff at 1:30 p.m. and are $5 per person for a round-trip ticket.

HISTORY: This is the first meeting between the two teams, and Stony Brook has never played a Pac-12 Conference team. The Seawolves are 1-10 all-time against FBS teams with their only win being a 23-3 victory against Army in 2012. The Ducks have won 27 straight nonconference home games, the second-longest active streak in FBS.
