It was business as usual for the Milwaukee Bucks. In their first game of their quest to repeat as NBA champions, they knocked off the Brooklyn Nets, 127-104.

The Milwaukee Bucks would pick up right where they left off to start this one. Paced by 13 points from Giannis Antetokounmpo, the Bucks would storm out to an instant double-digit advantage. The Nets simply look outmatched in the opening 12 minutes, as Milwaukee shot at a 43% rate to earn a 37-25 lead after one quarter of play.

It’d be a bit of a similar story in the second quarter. The Nets would start to scratch themselves back into things a little bit after a hot stretch from James Harden. However, it didn’t take long for Milwaukee to turn the jets back on. However, late in the period, the Nets were able to slice things down to single digits. Going into the locker room, the Bucks held a 66-59 advantage.

At halftime, it was announced that Jrue Holiday would miss the remainder of the game due to a right heel contusion. That paved the way for some uncanny Bucks lineups, one of which consisted of Justin Robinson. However, despite the uniqueness, Milwaukee were able to keep themselves separated by double digits. Going into the final quarter of regulation, the Bucks groomed a 97-85 lead.

From that point on, the Nets folded and never mustered a real comeback attempt. The Bucks continued to boast a double-digit lead and comfortably crossed the finish line with a 127-104 victory.

How about Jordan Nwora tonight? Coming into the season, Bucks fans were wondering what his usage would be. Tonight, we saw a glimpse of what that could be. He finished with 15 points and six rebounds in 26 minutes, and had a lot thrown at him. On multiple possessions, he’d defend Kevin Durant, which is by no means an easy task. However, given the injuries and how short-staffed Milwaukee’s rotation is, Nwora was going to have to be relied on. This type of performance is definitely promising to see. As we move forward, his usage should continue to be strong. We know the type of offensive firepower he possesses. It may just hinge on his level of defense.
