Reports: Former Michigan standout, NBA guard Darius Morris dead at 33

LOS ANGELES (WNDU) - Former Michigan standout and NBA guard Darius Morris has passed away at the age of 33.

The news was reported by Shams Charania of The Athletic. Morris’ family also reportedly confirmed the news to TMZ.

His cause of death is currently unknown, but TMZ reports his body was found in the Los Angeles area on Thursday.

Morris played at Michigan from 2009-2011, where he earned third team All-Big Ten honors as a sophomore. That same year, he broke Michigan’s school record for single season assists with 235. The record would later be broken by Trey Burke.

The Los Angeles native was picked by the Los Angeles Lakers in the second round of the 2011 NBA Draft. He also played for the Philadelphia 76ers, Los Angeles Clippers, Memphis Grizzlies, and Brooklyn Nets from 2011-2015.

After the NBA, Morris went on to play professionally in China, Russia, and France, last playing in 2020.
