Simone Biles’ boyfriend Jonathan Owens shared how proud he was of the gymnast following her withdrawal from the 2020 Olympics after an uncharacteristic balk on her vault.

NFL player Owens, 26, took to the comments of Biles’ Instagram section Tuesday to show his support for his girlfriend.

“I’m so proud of y’all 🤞🏽❤️,” he commented on her pic with her teammates on the U.S. women’s gymnastics team, Sunisa Lee, Jordan Chiles, and Grace McCallum.

Biles, 24, had written “OLYMPIC SILVER MEDALISTS 🤍 I’m SO proud of these girls right here. You girls are incredibly brave & talented! I’ll forever be inspired by your determination to not give up and to fight through adversity! They stepped up when I couldn’t. thanks for being there for me and having my back! forever love y’all.”

Her teammates also showed their support for Biles after the rough turn of events.

“You will forever be loved. We can’t thank you enough. You have such a huge inspiration on all of us. We wouldn’t have done it without you🥺💕 love you mo 🤞🏾❤️,” Chiles wrote.

“love you so much. thank you for inspiring me every single day. you are not only an amazing gymnast but you are also an amazing person. 💕🤞🏼,” Lee added.

Biles did not pull out from the competition over an injury, according to a live Peacock broadcast, but rather a “mental issue she is having.” But USA Gymnastics told USA Today she withdrew over a medical issue and will be “assessed daily to determine medical clearance for future competitions.”

Owens and Biles were first linked as a couple in summer 2020 and went Instagram-official that August. The Houston Texans player has claimed he didn’t know who Biles was when they first met.
