The 2021 VMAs are Justin Bieber’s to lose. He leads this year’s show with seven nominations, including video of the year for “Popstar” and artist of the year. He’s also marking a return to the MTV award show stage, where he last performed six years ago.
Megan Thee Stallion heads into the night with six nods, also one for artist of the year. The majority of the rapper’s nominations are for “WAP,” her saucy pairing with Cardi B. Chart-toppers Billie Eilish, BTS, Doja Cat, Drake, Giveon, Lil Nas X and Olivia Rodrigo are all up for five awards tonight.
The VMAs will start handing out Moon Person awards during a live production at Barclays Center in Brooklyn at 8 p.m. ET.
