Tommy DeBarge, best known as one of the musical DeBarge siblings and a member of ’70s R&B group Switch, died Thursday, according to his family. He was 64.

One of 10 siblings from Grand Rapids, Michigan, DeBarge had suffered over the years from liver and kidney failure and had been hospitalized a few weeks ago, according to TMZ. He had also battled COVID-19 earlier this year from which he had recovered, his daughter Marina told TMZ

“Tommy has gained his wings,” his sister Etterline “Bunny” DeBarge wrote on Facebook. “Rest peacefully in Heaven, Dearest Thomas DeBarge.”

DeBarge and his Switch bandmates rose to fame in the 1970s with hits such as “There’ll Never Be,” “I Call Your Name” and “Love Over & Over Again.”

Tommy and his brother Bobby, who died in 1995 from complications of AIDS, were founding members of Switch.
