The U.S. resumes its World Cup qualifying campaign by hosting Jamaica in Austin, Texas on Thursday night (7:30 p.m. ET; broadcasts: ESPN 2, TUDN). The U.S. will be looking to pick up where they left off in the last international window with their 4-1 comeback win in Honduras highlighted by the dazzling performance of 18-year-old striker Ricardo Pepi.

Weston McKennie has been welcomed back into the fold after being sent home for violating team rules during the last window, but the U.S. will once again be without stars Christian Pulisic and Gio Reyna due to injuries.

The Athletic's Paul Tenorio and Sam Stejskal will be checking in from Austin throughout the night, but while we await kickoff, here is some reading to catch up on:
• Verticality: what it means and why it's important against Jamaica
• The Great Hope: Ricardo Pepi shows the promise of an untapped USMNT talent pool as Europe takes notice
• How many minutes U.S. players have logged before World Cup qualifying
• Landon Donovan on his McKennie comments and his role in U.S. Soccer
• Julian Araujo on why he chose to represent Mexico over the U.S.
