How Hurricane Isaias is likely to affect the East Coast

The Post's Matthew Cappucci explains what East Coast states can expect as they brace for Hurricane Isaias, the storm drenched the Bahamas on July 31. Tropical storm conditions could begin along the east coast of Florida as soon as August 1 as the storm makes a beeline northward on a menacing path along the coast. North Carolina, in particular, may be hit hard by the storm from Monday into Tuesday, where Isaias could crash ashore. A mandatory evacuation for Ocracoke Island has been ordered beginning at 6 a.m. on Aug. 1. Governor Roy Cooper issued a state of emergency and urged anyone who needs to evacuate to stay with family and friends or at a hotel, if possible, because of social distancing precautions at shelters.
