Authorities say a helicopter carrying five Marines that disappeared during a flight between Nevada and southern California has been located. Rescue efforts are now underway, but crews will have to fight snowy conditions, military officials say. The CH-53E Super Stallion helicopter was flying from Creech Air Force Base, northwest of Las Vegas, to Marine Corps Air Station Miramar in San Diego on Tuesday when it was reported overdue early Wednesday morning. Cal Fire told Nexstar's KSWB that they were notified around 2:20 a.m. that the aircraft, with five Marines onboard, had not shown up to its destination. KTLA's Sara Welch reports on Feb. 7, 2024.
