New book examines the origins of Juneteenth in Texas
While Juneteenth is now a national holiday, Texas has recognized it as a state holiday since 1980. Pulitzer prize-winning historian Annette Gordon-Reed's book "On Juneteenth" looks at the origins of the holiday and its importance in Texas and across the country.
