The first cut is the deepest.

Cheyenne Jackson revealed on Sunday that he has undergone five hair transplant surgeries over the years in order to rebuild what he lost in his early 20s.

Calling it his “horrible secret,” Jackson wrote alongside a photo of his large scalp scar, “No, this gnarly scar across my head isn’t from life-saving brain surgery, nor did I narrowly survive a shark attack.

“It’s worse. (At least in Hollywood…),” he continued. “I had hair transplant surgery. 5 of them, to be exact over 14 years.”

The “American Horror Story” actor, 44, admitted his dramatic confession could be perceived as vain given the coronavirus pandemic but said he had to come clean to “RELEASE how much shame & anxiety I’ve had about people finding out for years.”

Jackson got his first surgery at 28 after starting to feel “less attractive & truly less like myself as the days went on” and he lost more and more hair.

“I hid it from everyone,” he admitted. “It was painful & expensive but I started to feel better about myself.”

The “Descendants 3” actor said he decided to come clean so he could inspire others to live their truths and not be ashamed of themselves.

“I’m sharing because maybe this will inspire someone out there to share a secret they’ve been hiding, or show a scar that they’ve been afraid of anyone seeing,” he wrote. “Let it go. What I’ve learned during this pandemic is that s–t like this just doesn’t matter.

“I’m trying to teach my kids to accept themselves & to be proud of who they are, & to put value on things that are IMPORTANT & REAL so as their father, the example should start with me,” he continued. “This is that. I’ll go first. #ShowYourScars”

Jackson’s followers had mixed emotions about his revelation, with some lauding him for sharing his secret while others thought he was out of touch.

“I have always looked up to you as a brother and this just makes me love you more,” commented one fan. “I feel inspired by your strength! Love you Cheyenne!”

“THIS S–T DONT MATTER,” wrote another. “It’s sad a pandemic has opened humanity’s eyes to the superficial and ego driven lives we all lead.”
