Gimme Him: One player Giants would steal from Eagles

The New York Giants (3-7) will host the Philadelphia Eagles (5-6) at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey this Sunday afternoon.

That, of course, provides those of us here at Giants Wire the opportunity to hypothetically steal from the Eagles’ roster in search of depth and/or talent upgrades for Big Blue.

In looking at the Eagles’ roster, the options aren’t as plentiful as one might think. On the defensive side of the ball in particular, there’s not much appeal. Defensive tackle Javon Hargrave and his 6.0 sacks look nice, but his run defense is among the worst in football. There’s not enough balance to justify stealing him.

Cornerback Darius Slay is another potential option, but with James Bradberry and Adoree’ Jackson already in tow, the theft would be better suited elsewhere.

Offensively, tight end Dallas Goedert is an intriguing potential option, but the Giants seem to have forgotten how to properly use tight ends.

Ultimately, this week’s theft is going to be another boring one. It’s 34-year-old center Jason Kelce.

How much time Kelce has left in his career is uncertain, but he’s still playing at a high level and would dramatically boost the talent level of the Giants’ interior offensive line.

That’s in the short-term. In the long-term, Kelce’s presence would shift Nick Gates back out to guard and build a bridge to the team’s next starting center.

Kelce is among the NFL’s highest-graded centers this season (82.8) and is a mauling run blocker. His pass protection could use a little work, but that’s far less important at his position. Either way, it would be an improvement over Billy Price.

What are your thoughts, Giants fans? Would you pick Jason Kelce or would you steal an entirely different player from the Philadelphia Eagles?
