Four-time All-Star Kemba Walker is finalizing a contract buyout with the Oklahoma City Thunder and is close to signing a deal with the New York Knicks as a free agent, sources told The Athletic on Wednesday.

Walker, 31, was traded to the Thunder in June after two seasons with the Boston Celtics. The point guard averaged 19.3 points, 4.9 assists and four rebounds last season for Boston.

He was drafted ninth overall in the 2011 NBA Draft to the then-Charlotte Bobcats and spent eight seasons with the team before he joined the Celtics in a sign-and-trade deal in 2019.

Last season, the Knicks reached the playoffs for the first time since 2013, losing in the first round to the Atlanta Hawks.
