Before the two quick third-quarter scores, UAB cut its deficit to 17-14 after a critical offside penalty by Miami defensive end Quincy Roche on fourth-and-4 in the red zone. A 6-yard touchdown run by Spencer Brown followed. Roche’s penalty, where he may have been drawn off but the penalty couldn’t be reviewed, gave the Blazers a first down after the Hurricanes nearly came up with an interception two plays earlier.
