Watch: Rebel Wilson poses in a swimsuit and tells fans 'It's never too late to improve yourself'

Rebel Wilson has offered fans an inspiring reminder that it is "never too late to improve yourself" as she highlights her recent weight loss in a swimsuit snapshot.

The actor shared an image of herself clinging onto a piece of driftwood in the sea, wearing a long-sleeved red one-piece with a plunging neckline.

The image is a throwback to her Rebel Island-themed birthday celebrations, where the Pitch Perfect star gathered all her best friends to party on the beach.

In the accompanying caption the Australian comedian, 41, offered words of encouragement to fans who might be weighing up making changes in their own lives.

"It’s never too late to improve yourself - to improve your health, your heart, your happiness, your harmony," she wrote.

"For everyone out there just trying to be a lil bit better this week: go for it! Every bit counts. Every effort is worth it. You’re worth it."

The empowering post certainly seemed to have the desired effect with Wilson's followers with many hitting the comments to express their appreciation for the message.

"Rebel, you are a legit inspiration. Thank you for putting yourself out there as always, and especially in this way. Keep going," one fan wrote.

"Thanks for the encouragement, in times like this we need more people that gives hope," another agreed, while a third simply thanked the star "for this reminder and for the encouragement".

Wilson has previously opened up about her body transformation revealing that taking a “holistic approach” has been the key to her weight loss.

The Bridesmaids star explained that at the beginning of 2020, she decided she was going to make this her “Year Of Health”.

“For the last few years I’ve been theming my years, so I had the Year Of Fun, last year I had the Year Of Love and this year I’m like, ‘It’s going to be the Year Of Health,’” she told Drew Barrymore on The Drew Barrymore Show.

The actor went on to say that turning 40 in March last year had inspired her to rethink her health regime.

“I never really focused on my health, which was probably obvious,” she added.

“I was going all around the world, jet-setting everywhere and eating a ton of sugar,” Wilson continued. “That was my vice. I have a very sweet tooth. I love desserts.”

In a post shared to Instagram she shared a snap of herself wearing a dressing gown, with a set of scales visible in the reflection of a mirror.

Captioning the snap, the star wrote: “Rather than step on the scale, look at yourself in the mirror and be like ‘dammmm girrrrrl... you’re smart and talented and accomplished and perfect just the way you are.’”

The piece of self-esteem-boosting advice went down well with social media users who left more than 180,000 ‘likes’.

Another commented: “Well I needed that more today than I’d like to admit.”

This has included high-intensity workouts with her personal trainer Jono Castano Acero.

In one post, which saw her show off her weight loss in a body skimming navy dress, Wilson updated fans on her progress.

She wrote: “Thanks for all the love so far on my ‘Year of Health’ journey - when I was reaching for the candies last night after dinner I thought to myself ‘hmmmm...better not’ and had a bottle of water instead.

“8kgs to go until I hit my goal - hopefully I can do it by the end of the year.”
